Reconstruction of Cheb pedestrian zone is finished. The builders gave over the last, third stage of the reconstruction involving construction of new pavements and carriageway in part of Májová Street.

One of the most extensive investment enterprises in the town was launched in March 2009. In Svobody Street, in the section from former Bata store as far as to the border line of King George Square, new stone pavement was laid, interesting mobiliary was installed and platanes and ornamental pear trees were planted creating pleasant atmosphere. At two sites - near the Savings Bank and at the Prior department store - two small squares were created.
The town obtained several distinctive unique elements together with the modern boulevard. Besides the Gate of Time, turning artefact by sculptor Marian Karel, it is the time axis with the most significant dates from the history of Cheb passing through the whole reconstructed boulevard, or LED posts with changing graphic motives.
The costs of all three stages of the reconstruction will be in amount of about 136 million CZK. Thanks to grant from European funds will only be paid less than 15 million CZK from the municipal coffers.
