Third stage of the pedestrian zone launched
Immediately after finishing the main reconstruction part including the section from former Bata store to King George Square, the third and last stage started. The builders moved from the already finished boulevard to Májová Street which is going to be renewed from the crossroad with Dukelská Street (at the bus stop) as far as to the crossroad with Valdštejnova Street (near Svět cinema).
The construction is going to be made in two stages on one side in the same way like the pedestrian zone in last two stages. The traffic in Májová Street is lead one-way from the crossroad with Dukelská Street as far as to the roundabout, the reverse direction is lead to Evropská Street. Alternate route leads to streets Mánesova, Evropská and Svatopluka Čecha. In Svatopluka Čecha Street is a temporary bus stop.
The construction continues according to the plans. After demolition works the builders are going to focus on slatted drainage. "On the right side of Májová Street, at the first block of houses, the pavement will be widened and parking lots will rise there," Monika Štádlerová, the construction manager, informed and added that between the particular parking lots three ornamental pear trees are going to be planted.
The final stage also includes demolition of the ramp at Svět cinema, similar to the one in Šlikova Street. The work should be finished this year in October.
