The project planned for 2009 - 2011 is focused on reconstruction and revitalization the pedestrian zone in the centre of Cheb. It includes pavements and carriageways surface reconstruction, expansion the urban green areas (lines of trees and individually planted trees), furnishing restoration and replenishment.

The project aim is architectural linking the pedestrian zone with urban monument reserve. Creation of artwork in form of demogram (drainage channel cover bearing selected data from the town history) passing through the whole base line of the area including creation a sculpture in the upper part of the square belongs to the revitalization.

The pedestrian zone in the town centre is situated in Svobody Street going from the King George Square - Náměstí Krále Jiřího and ending in front of the railway station. The pedestrian zone reconstruction includes the area from the square to Evropská Street and comprises related parts of Šlikova, Obrněné Brigády, Komenského and Májová streets as well.
Above mentioned part of Svobody Street is divided into two sections, both being pedestrian zone with excluded traffic with time-limited supplies and servicing:

• section from the square to Májová Street
• section from Májová Street to Evropská Street

Preparatory period started in January, 2008 and ended in February 2009. Preparatory period basic activities include:

• approval of the project realization by the town council
• selection procedure for project documentation processer necessary for building licence
• execution of project documentation for building licence
• issuing the building licence
• selection procedure publication for project application processer
• selection procedure publication for ensuring the grant management
• formation the project team
• preparation and presentation the project application including obligatory supplements
• object consultation with Regional Council Authority Northwest in Karlovy Vary
• selection procedure publication for project documentation processer for construction execution
• selection procedure publication for organizer of the competition for artwork design
• selection procedure publication for construction supplier
• selection procedure publication for project publicity
• publication of architectural competition for artwork contractor
• conclusion of contract relations with selected competitorsRealization period of the project started in March 2009 and will end in July 2011.

In frames of the realization period following activities will be carried out:

1) Construction work (the most significant amount of the project) include:

• reconstruction of the pedestrian zone surface
• access and equipment for disabled
• lighting the zebra crossings
• horizontal and vertical traffic signs
• creating green areas in the pedestrian zone - based on the architectural territorial solution (lines of trees and individually planted trees)
• replenishment of furnishing
• creation of artwork - demogram and sculpture

2) Inspectional days in the construction site - project team proceedings taking place at least once a month. Checking the particular activities and monitoring the observance of the particular project indicators.

3) Publicity - various publicity means are used for promotion and project presentation. Press materials, Internet portal, press conferences, advertising DVD and media promotion.

4) Administration and monitoring - realization team members ensure administrative operation according to their competence during the whole realization period. These are mainly presenting monitoring statements, presenting statements on individual stages including applications for payment and other administrative acts and obligations resulting from the programme condition.
