The advised shortened term of the pedestrian zone reconstruction is confirmed. Vice-chairman, doc. Miroslav Plevný informed about this and added that the Regional Solidarity Council Northwest - leading authority of the project (realized with EU promotion) showed positive attitude to shortening the term of the last, third stage which the town applied for. All kinds of work on the reconstruction are supposed to be finished until 30 October 2010.

The transformation of the pedestrian zone and related crossroads divided into three stages was launched in March last year. Firstly, part of Svobody Street from the former Bata store to the savings bank went through a demanding reconstruction. This was finished in August. As early as in September the work continued in the second part as far as to King George Square. Now, after the winter break the builders have taken up and they suppose to finish at the latest in late June, when FIJO (traditional youth wind and brass festival) participant are expected to come for the first four days in July. Until summer holidays the fully functioning artefact - Gate of Time by professor Marian Karel should appear at the end of Svobody Street leading to the Square.
"Third stage launched in July will only concern Májová Street in the section from the crossroad with Dukelská Street (in the surroundings of bus stops) as far as to the crossroad with Valdštejnova Street (near Svět cinema). All the work was originally planned to be finished in June 2011, but the constructional engineers and other partners agreed to finish the work within four months", vice-chairman said.
