The second stage of the pedestrian zone reconstruction is proceeding faster than originally planned terms expected, so the Christmas break cannot endanger the schedule. The construction activity will be interrupted on Friday, December 18. „The break is planned in order to ensure quiet for surrounding houses´ inhabitants during Christmas time and also the builders can have some days off which they surely need. Besides this, we can afford it," Monika Štádlerová, the construction supervisor explained.

Originally only approximately one quarter of the construction had to be paved - from Terea to Dejavu restaurant opposite Prior department store. Favorable climatic conditions and effort of the builders enabled to proceed as far as to King George Square. „The new pavement will not touch the square edge. Artwork will be installed there next year and construction work connected with it will involve this section," Štádlerová described and added that the difference is about 9 metres.
Also Jan Svoboda, the Mayor of Cheb, is satisfied with the proceeding of the construction work. „I hope that the citizens appreciate it, too. No doubt they will have to stumble over the building site some more time, but this is necessary and in the end it will bring something positive", the Mayor said.
It is not yet sure when the builders come back to the construction site. „It depends on weather. We are not going to dig the sidewalk in time when longlasting frost and snow can surprise us," Štádlerová added.
